Welcome to Swedestralia. Population: Jess & Nik. A whirlwind romance with the world’s oceans separating them saw this couple come together in the sweetest of seaside weddings.
Having met in Sweden through mutual friends, Niklas and Jessica kept in touch via Skype. When he asked one night how she might feel if he came to Australia to visit, Jessica thought it would be a wonderful idea. He arrived on Friday. They went to a Sunday session with friends and when Nik asked “What am I? Your boyfriend?!”, Jess found herself saying “YES!”. He proposed on Wednesday and again, she found herself saying “YES!’.
Jessica said, “We went to my parents’ for dinner very nervously after this, to hopefully get their blessing and sure enough we did! Not long after, Nik had to fly home and it was a long 2 months later that I joined him in Sweden… We decided to marry in July as it is Swedish tradition to be married within a year of the engagement. Whirlwind to say the least!”
Some things are just meant to be and we are more than certain that you’ll peek at Jessica and Niklas’ wedding and agree. When we asked if Jess had something old (her antique wedding ring), something new (her gown), something borrowed (her maid of honour’s late mother’s pearl and diamond earrings) and something blue – she replied, “My husband’s eyes! Best decision ever!”.
We thank Jess and Nik for sharing their story and their photographer Peggy Sass for sharing the images.
