Tahmina and Michael’s wedding? Her Afghan background, his Indian background, and their combined love of unique spaces, architecture and design are all self-evident. There was no way known to shorten this blog post, because their joyful day is a visual feast!
A freak storm meant their ceremony was moved indoors at the last minute – but nothing was lost in translation. Fremantle’s Pakenham Street Art Space accommodated both ceremony and reception beautifully and the couple did have an opportunity to pop outside with their celebrant Shannon Fleming to post the official marriage documents moments after they were signed!
Working with their stylist Kristy from Flights of Fancy by Kristy, Tahmina and Michael combined Middle Eastern touches including jewel-toned colours, brass vessels, gold cutlery and textural linens with more contemporary industrial elements such as geometric shapes, festoon lighting, plywood and Danish school chairs. Kristy says, “The result was a wedding unlike any other we’ve styled. It sounds strange to say it, as you would expect there to be joy present in every wedding celebration, but this one in particular was just so joyous – you could seriously feel the love in the room. It was a pleasure to be part of it.”
We thank the couple and their photographer Hannah from Keeper Creative for sharing the love. And we’re so chuffed that several members of Tahmina and Michael’s dream team will exhibiting at First Comes Love 2015 at MosArts in a fortnight’s time!

I love EVERYTHING about this wedding. From the Brides Gown to the Grooms Linen Jacket, the Bride-Groom and the Groom-Maid (?), to the Turkish Delight and the Kids Play Corner, but especially all those little cultural touches – joyous, as Kristy mentioned in the blurb!
You can feel the love and happiness that was in that room looking at these images! Love the embroidery on the Brides dress. x
Thanks FCL for posting this wedding – it’s different to see one that has a sprinkle of culture through it, I love it! Flights of Fancy did a beautiful job!
LOVE THIS.
