Then comes marriage: Lucy & Ryan

You don’t often associate Canberra with young love, but it was on a bus trip from Canberra to the snow fields in Jindabyne that the spark was lit for this Perth hills couple! Fast forward to their wedding day and radiographer Lucy and engineer Ryan chose to celebrate in an equally picturesque natural environment – the vineyards north of Perth at Sitella in the Swan Valley.

Nature was also kind to Lucy when choosing flowers. She explained, I was overjoyed there were peonies! I had always wanted them in my bouquet but hadn’t wanted to get my hopes up… one of my favourite memories was going to the flower markets at dawn the day before the wedding to pick out flowers. We had no preconceived ideas, we just wanted seasonal beauties.”

Lucy’s cousin Catherine of Flower Girl Singapore helped make the selections and family members arranged the bouquets, buttonholes and flower boxes together. Lucy said, I was so lucky to have 5 generations of women putting together my flowers! There was a 93 year age gap from the oldest to the youngest. The boxes for the flowers were made by Ryan and his dad from recycled pallets. “My 98 year old great-grandmother also made my mum’s bouquet!” said Lucy. She also helped design Lucy’s vintage-style veil, which was then made by Kubank Designs in Subiaco. We love a family affair!

We thank Lucy and Ryan for sharing their big day with us, along with the man who caught the magic – Jimmy from iZO Photography.
