Sometimes there are just not enough superlatives. I suspect we’re about to elicit groans from the grammar grouchies for an overuse of adjectives (#sorrynotsorry). Jess is a medical defence lawyer and Dan works in superannuation consulting, so these kids are smart as well as genetically blessed and innately stylish. High school sweethearts who parted ways whilst establishing their careers in different states – they found their way back to one another and Dan proposed in sweet style on a Sunday afternoon at their local coffee shop in Melbourne.
“I was fiddling with a little ring Dan had brought me in NYC… and commenting that I needed to resize it, when Dan asked out of no where ”Why don’t we make that your engagement ring – do you want to get married?”” explained Jess, “… tears started streaming down my face and I couldn’t have been more surprised or happier. I don’t think the poor waitress who delivered our coffees and quickly backed away knew whether Dan had just stolen or broken my heart (although we made sure she knew later!).”
Choosing to wed in the south west of their home state was made easier when a favourite Melbourne chef Seth James was appointed head chef at Wills Domain in Yallingup. Food obsessives both, Jess says “Dan tells me that waking up with me on the morning of the wedding and seeing me just lying next to him giggling to myself was very special… however, if you asked Dan, he would probably prefer I say his most memorable moment was the slow roasted lamb shoulder we had for dinner.”
Waking up together on the big day, sharing breakfast with their loved ones and taking time out for an intimate ‘first look’ prior to the wedding were all important to this unconventional couple. “It was so great just to share this moment with all the special people in our lives before the festivities really got underway… we could spend all our time at our wedding with our guests, many of who had travelled so far, without worrying about photos.”
And what a wedding it was… that floaty floral and metallic print gown handcrafted by Melbourne couturier Sonia Cappellazo! Perfect peonies and abundant blooms by Rebecca Grace! Seaside and vineside views to die for! Family and friends and laughter and love!
We thank this gorgeous twosome (seriously, could they be any more gorgeous?!) and their insanely talented photographer Natasja Kremers for sharing.
